FATWOOD LANYARD KIT
(Easy light pinewood/resin pendant with tinder, striker, ferro, and survival cordage)

We've threaded paracord thru a chunk of Pine Fatwood (lighter wood harvested by hand from high resin heart of Pine Stumps). This pine pendant can be shaved to create slivers of quick lighting tinder. The pendant is wrapped with 2 feet of fibrous jute twine (which makes a great fire tinder). We've also tucked a flammable tinder wick and ceramic razor under the ranger band (the ranger bands serve to hold down small supplies against the pendant, can be burnt for a 30 second strong flame, and serve as a buffer to shield from irritation cause by the wood against the bare chest). Each lanyard has a ferro rod toggle (which you can adjust to control the necklace's fit).

1. Paracord, Type III, 550lb: Replace shoestrings, make a bow saw, lash together logs to create a raft, make a bear bag, use as fishing line, tie down gear, create snare traps, fashion a clothesline or tent frame, etc. Contains 7 Nylon Strands. 35lb rating per strand. Utilize the inner strands of paracord sheath as fishing line, sutures, sheltering lashes, strapping, etc.
2. Fatwood Pendant: Pinewood retrieved from high resin/sap from the heartwood of the stump.  The wood chunk is rich in terpenes and saturated with the pitch which makes it both highly flammable and nearly water and rot proof. The natural amber hardness allows for small shavings to be chipped off to conserve the pendant for making many fires. Use the savings as tinder or the entire chunk as kindling. Our fatwood is harvested by hand and not bought online or in some outdoor store. Each pendant is pre-drilled to thread cord thru. Sizes vary from min of 1/4" x 1.5" to max of 1" x 3".
3. Fire Starter Ferrocerium Toggle Rod: TIPS: Start a fire, Scrape slowly to shave off black covering before use, Strike quickly to ignite tinder, Reflect on sparks into nest of fine tinder, Provide oxygen flow by blowing into the base of flame.
4. Tinder Wick Strand: A combustible wick, easy ignite, strong flame, long burn time, waterproof. TIPS: A. Fray red wick to create a tinder nest. B. Light. C. Each 1 inch piece of wick will burn for close to 1 minute.
5. Jute String/Tinder, 2 feet of 3 ply small rope, use as wound dressing for absorbent properties, tie down, fire tinder.
6. Ranger Bands, 2x: Fire Tinder & Smoke Signal (30 Second burn time), heavy duty rubber band, bandage for fingers, gear strapping, bundle loose items, waterproof a survival tin or Zippo, use as shock absorber on cell phone, burn for a large signal flame, grip for pistol, etc. TIPS: Use band to secure smaller items to your pendant.
7. Razor (choose standard craft blade or ceramic for $10 upgrade)

  • Zirconia Ceramic Razor Blade and Fire Striker: (Wear Resistant - Non-Dulling Cutting Edge - Covert - Non Metallic - Concealable ). Strike against flint to create sparks, cutting blade for endless uses, razor sharp for shaving or skinning, sheath between a tip-split stick to use as defensive jabbing, etc.
  • Craft Razor Blade. Curved razor with lanyard hole, use as knife and fire striker. Cut rope, boxes, cloth, and use in other small tasks.

8. Adjustable Knot System: This lanyard can be adjusted to fit all sizes. Grab the area by the tied knots and slide back and forth to increase/decrease size. A great amount of force will cause the ties to unravel, (this helps prevent strangulation hazards).
